Once you have been riding a bike for 60 years or more, you know that (a)you can't afford to wobble on a 2 wheeled bent even if you are going slowly up a hill (there could be a lorry overtaking just by your right ear) (b) speed bumps and tree roots need smoothing out. Hence you need 3 wheels and a suspension. Your can then go as slowly as the tiddly gears dictate without the slightest wobble. You can also take to the tracks and enjoy a fume free ride in the country in great comfort. The Lepus is an excellent machine and it even folds to fit a hatchback. Take off the hay rack at the back and hang a haversack there to give excellent load carrying ability.

I got a Lepus as a general use but with the idea of camping trike. It is excellent and has very few negatives. The right hand rear wheel is the driven one so It can be a bit of a pain on steep road cambers, driving you in to the edge. I had a problem with the bearings on one side fo the rear axle and Hase sent me the new parts without any argument at all. Quality of build is excellent and ride is smooth. A bit on the heavy side but I made it on a few tours in 2003 with full camping gear and just went a bit slower.
