| I bought the bike with the Rohloff gears from SJS late in 2008 and have cycled close to 2,000 miles. Ease of maintenance and the anticipated reliability are great. The downside is that the gears are effectively in two halves, the lower 7 gears and the upper 7. Changing down fron the upper to the lower works well if you know you are about to do it but otherwise almost invariably locks to 14 and, as the hill steepens, I am left floundering as I try and find the gear I want! When somebody is tailing you keep your fingers crossed that your rear mudguard survives! All other gear changes are super easy and smooth. |
