New Lithium System: The new Lithium battery is much neater than the older NiCd/NiMH batteries - it’s smaller, lighter (a lot lighter for the 5.2Ah version) and fits inside a very well made pannier which can fit to any standard carrier: 
The new systems also use a new digital controller - this controller lets the throttle have a battery meter and an Eco mode to get extra range - it also  makes Pedelec systems more powerful when pulling away from standstill. The handlebar-mounted throttle controls the power - it is “proportional” - i.e. you get full control of the power, not just on and off like cheaper systems. The throttle comes in a twist version (shown) or a thumb version.
The charger is a “smart” charger - while charging, it continuously monitors the battery to make sure it fills it as quickly and safely as possible. 
The custom rear carrier is designed to hold one or two batteries either side of the wheel. The controller fits at the top, just under the top plate of the carrier. If you order an Estelle with one battery, an empty battery box is provided for storage on the other side - if you order a kit with one battery, the other side is empty, although an empty box can be provided if you wish.
