DToplight The DToplights feature super bright LEDs for very long life expectancy, a very solid rack-mount case, and a large built-in reflector. LEDs produce more light than a bulb, but don’t waste any energy as heat, so they use less power. They also cannot burn out like a bulb, and never need to be replaced. The DToplight is £18
The DToplight Plus features the standlight technology - a built-in accumulator is charged while riding, and then powers the light for up to four minutes when you stop - a very good safety feature for when you stop at traffic lights, and especially right-hand turns. The DToplight Plus is £29. It is also available with a pushbutton to turn it off immediately when you want - to prevent those “Hey, you’ve left your lights on!” comments...
The DToplight Multi can be switched between dynamo and battery power. when it is switched to 0, it acts like a standard dynamo light - coming on when you move and going off when you stop, and taking it’s power from the dynamo. When it is switched to 1, it still takes it’s power from the dynamo when you are moving, but when you stop it switches to battery power. So basically it’s like having a standlight which stays on for ever (or until the batteries run down, which is almost the same thing!). The DToplight Multi is £29.
The 4DToplight Senso Multi is similar to the Multi, but with the addition of Senso technology. This adds a third switch setting - S - which uses a light sensor to turn the light on automatically when it gets dark and off when it is light. Truly a fit-and-forget back light. The 4DToplight Senso Multi also has additional LEDs at the sides of the reflector, to make you very visible from the sides - see the 4DToplight Permanent for a picture. The 4DToplight Senso Multi is £37.
The Permanent is powered from readily-available AA batteries, which will last much longer than usual due to the low power consumption of LED lights, and costs £21. The Permanent doesn’t need a dynamo, so is good for using with battery front lights, or to allow all the power from the dynamo to go to the front light.
The DToplight Senso Permanent has built-in sensors, so when switched to the correct setting, will come on automatically when moving in low light conditions. The Senso can also be switched on permanently, and costs £28. The 4DToplight Permanent has additional side LEDs to make you much more visible, and is £24.

All of these lights (well, the dynamo ones!) work with any 6V dynamos, but are designed to work with the B&M Dymotecs. There is a special 12V version of the DToplight Plus for 12V, which is only available as part of a kit - see the dynamos page. |
