What do I mean by conventional? Pretty much anything that has a non-recumbent riding position and larger wheels. This includes touring bikes, sport bikes and city bikes. Of course our conventional bikes are anything but ordinary!
The Culture and Avenue from R&M are fantastic city and leisure bikes - most versions have fully enclosed chains for reliability, but the Culture can also be specified as a touring bike for longer distances...
The Paper Bicycle, designed here in Scotland, is built to be a simple and tough city bike - the chain is enclosed and protected, the steel frame is adjustable to fit 95% of riders, and with hub gears and brakes it needs practically zero maintenance.
